Cima Fertazza is a veritable viewpoint offering a 360° view, which you can also reach using the Ski Civetta ski area lifts. From this strategic position, at an altitude of 2101 meters, the view stretches unobstructed over some of the most evocative peaks (from Sella to Antelao, from Marmolada to Pelmo, from Croda da Lago to Civetta), offering an immersive experience in the heart of the Dolomites.
A few steps from the summit, the Cervo del Fertazza awaits you: an imposing 7-meter-high wooden sculpture created by Venetian artist Marco Martalar.
There are various ways to reach Cima Fertazza: you can comfortably climb from Pescul, with two chairlift sections that climb Mount Fertazza. Or it can be the destination of a beautiful hike of medium difficulty: start from Pescul and follow trail 569, which is located to the right of the ski lifts. The route is well marked and, with an elevation gain of 670 meters and an approximate duration of 2 hours, will take you to the summit. In winter, it is not possible to climb from Malga Fontanafreda (an alternative only available in summer) as there are ski slopes in the area. Crampons are mandatory for the hike (and snowshoes in case of fresh snow!).
A few steps from the summit, the Cervo del Fertazza (Fertazza Deer) awaits you: an imposing 7-meter-high wooden sculpture created by Venetian artist Marco Martalar using natural materials recovered from the debris left behind by the violent storm Vaia in 2018. A work with strong symbolic value that speaks to us of strength, rebirth, and connection with nature. The deer, born from twisted and broken branches, invites young and old alike to stop, observe, and perceive the message it conveys: “even from wounds, new beauty can be born.”
