Where the Prealps form a splendid link between the peaks and the plains: Alpe del Nevegal, just fifteen minutes from the center of Belluno, is a unique observation point thanks to its rich landscape. As you climb higher, to the north you can see the Valbelluna and the majesty of the Belluno Dolomites, while to the south, in conditions of excellent visibility, you can see as far as the horizon, where you can clearly see the Venice lagoon.
A view that allows you to take in all the beauty and variety of the surrounding landscape at a glance.
UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE DOLOMITES BALCONY
Head to the panoramic balcony in Faverghera: it is one of a series of “conscious observation points” set up by the UNESCO Dolomites Foundation throughout the area to encourage more mindful enjoyment of the extraordinary landscape of the Dolomites World Heritage Site. The structures—similar to the one on Nevegal—are located in strategic places and along easily accessible trails, even for those with reduced mobility.
From up here, at an altitude of 1550 meters, the view is truly spectacular: among the peaks rising all around, you can admire the Schiara group with the Gusela del Vescovà (symbol of Belluno) and an unusual view of Pelmo peeking out from behind Serva. But that's not all: the Alpago mountains, overlooking Lake Santa Croce, are also impressive. The balcony contains detailed information on the names of all the peaks, helping you to orientate yourself and recognize them from this very special vantage point.
To reach the Faverghera-Nevegal panoramic balcony, start from La Casera and follow the signs for Rifugio Bristot. Just before the Malga Faverghera farmhouse, on the right (there are plenty of signs!), a short uphill stretch will take you to the panoramic balcony. This is a pleasant, family-friendly hike lasting about half an hour with an elevation gain of about 150 meters.
When the ski lifts are in operation, you can take the chairlift from the Nevegal square.
