Cortina between Larieto and Mietres

Cortina between Larieto and Mietres

From the Tre Croci pass, in Rio Gere (where there is ample parking), trail 211 leads you to the El Brite de Larieto mountain hut, where you can enjoy dishes and snacks prepared with local, authentic products. Once you have passed the clearing with the farmhouse, follow the signs for the Mietres mountain hut: this will take you through a magnificent larch forest, which is the largest in Europe.

“This easy and relaxing walk in the heart of the Ampezzo Dolomites takes you through a spectacular larch forest. Larieto, in the Ampezzo dialect, means larch forest."

The colours are truly unique: from the soft green of spring to the golden explosion of autumn, it is always enchanting! After about half an hour, at the fork in the road, continue to the left: the signs for Mietres are clear. Shortly afterwards, the woods open up, revealing a 360° view of Faloria, Sorapis, Tofane and the Ampezzo valley. Framing the Mietres refuge is Pomagagnon, which can be seen here in all its imposing beauty.
