A beautiful walk, with little elevation gain, will take you to discover unique panoramic views of Mezzodì, Tamer, San Sebastiano and Moiazza and hidden corners of the Val di Zoldo. You will pass through an ancient forest of centuries-old beech trees on the slopes of Col de Salera and Monte Punta. A true spectacle in autumn, when the leaves turn copper colour and cover the path. Can you already hear the pleasant rustling of your footsteps on that soft carpet?
“The route begins in Astragal, in an enviable panoramic location, where you can immediately admire the small church of Saints Fabiano and Sebastiano and the birthplace of the famous sculptor Valentino Panciera Besarèl."
From the square, continue to Col and at the end of the village take the easy dirt road on the right that leads into the woods.
The forest road offers a relaxing walk, interrupted only by the picturesque Gaf de Malvarè, a small stream that has carved out a gorge. It is easily crossed thanks to a small bridge, and then you reach the hamlet of Villa. Here you will find another enchanting view and the “brent grant”, an ancient, large fountain.
For the return journey, you have two options: return immediately to Astragal or add a detour (about 15 minutes) and go down to Dont to taste authentic homemade Zoldano ice cream in a village that was once crucial for ironworking.
Several hamlets in Val di Zoldo are connected by a network of trails: these are the ancient connecting routes that the inhabitants used to travel on foot from one village to another.
