On January 4, at Alexander Girardi Hall, The Nutcracker by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky brings the enchantment of the festive season to life, performed by Compagnia Almatanz and directed and choreographed by Luigi Martelletta.

It is Christmas Eve. Clara receives a wooden nutcracker as a gift and, as midnight strikes, finds herself transported into an extraordinary universe of toy soldiers, fantastical battles, enchanted kingdoms and dances that seem to emerge straight from a dream. Yet behind the fairy tale lies something deeper: a young girl’s journey towards adulthood, where imagination becomes the most wonderful way to discover herself and the world around her.

Martelletta reimagines this timeless classic while preserving its soul, bringing Clara’s relationship with her mother into focus and giving fresh life to a beloved story. Guiding the audience throughout are Tchaikovsky’s unforgettable melodies, from the celebrated Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy to the sweeping waltzes.
