Everyone knows Marilyn. But who was hiding behind the world's most famous smile?
On the centenary of her birth, Violante Placido gives voice and body to one of the most beloved and tormented icons of the twentieth century, in an intense and intimate musical theater performance.
A room, a mirror, a phone that doesn't ring: it is here that the myth cracks and reveals Norma Jeane, the woman behind the diva, with her memories, her loves, and the desire to be loved for who she truly was.
Among the songs that made Marilyn immortal and original compositions, the music accompanies a journey into the intimacy of a figure that the world thought it knew, but perhaps never truly listened to. The iconic dresses are laid aside, the lights dim, and behind the perfection of the public image, fragility, loneliness, and the weight of an identity built for the gaze of others emerge.
Actress and singer-songwriter, Violante Placido walks this fine line between person and character in a performance that intertwines interpretation, singing, and memory.
Written by Salvatore Sito and Violante Placido, directed by Salvatore Sito, the show invites us to look beyond the legend, where a woman remains in search of her own voice.
Tickets are available online, at the Infopoint of Cortina d’Ampezzo, and at the Cooperativa di Cortina.
