The most genuine and essential company there is!

« Here there is so much quality: because it is nature that dictates its rhythms and its laws, with harsh sincerity... organic is real and it is the only possible way to love the world around us with respect. »

The agricultural company I Boschi del Castagno is located in Valmorel, a fraction of Limana (BL), and is surrounded by the greenery of the Belluno Prealps.

It was born in the early 2000s, as a life choice of Eugenio and Isabella. They were the pioneers of the ethical and organic philosophy in the Valmorel area, spreading the ancient spirit –which has always been present in the mountains but had, in some ways, been forgotten– of recovering and caring for land and animals.

Today the activity produces organic vegetables: their produce is not like that found on supermarket shelves; it has a true and intense flavor. You can find them at the markets in Belluno and Trichiana and at regional agricultural fairs dedicated to the organic world.

Some more details that make a difference

I Boschi del Castagno is a place for those who appreciate simplicity and the genuine taste of the land!

The activity cultivates a plot of about 1 hectare, which is farmed through rotation and in a non-intensive manner: this means that natural cycles are followed to avoid exploiting –or impoverishing– the land. Here, the tradition of the past is being revived... Machinery and additives are banned, and there is space for careful and rigorous manual labor, just as the farmers in the area did years ago.

Bringing youthful and energetic life to the company are the wwoofers: volunteer young people who come from all over the world to learn the art of farming. Eugenio and Isabella have been collaborating with the national WWOOF association for years and have built numerous sincere relationships with their guests, to the point that they consider them “grandchildren.”

The production of vegetables from I Boschi del Castagno is small, but it leaves a mark. There are over 40 different crop varieties, from potatoes to cabbages, from tomatoes to beans, from zucchinis to seasonal salads, from wild strawberries to onions... all are indigenous plantings that have been selected based on the climate of the pre-Alpine area to ensure the quality and ethics of cultivation. These vegetables will amaze you with their clear and distinctive taste: true delicacies that deserve to be tasted at least once!

Here’s who the agricultural company I Boschi del Castagno is: a simple and pure activity. Just a word of warning to future customers... Perhaps hospitality is not Eugenio’s strong suit – Spartan and direct, just like him – but if you don’t get hung up on his pragmatic sense and are open, here you will find a genuine environment rich in values and goodness.

  • Pet-friendly

  • Payment → mainly cash

  • Products: about 40 varieties of organic vegetables

  • Philosophy: artisanal organic farming, natural rotations, no chemicals, small batches.

  • Important notes: the farm is not visited without an agreement; it is preferable to meet them at the markets. Roads are not well-suited, and the location aims to remain peaceful and immersed in nature.

  • Accommodation possibilities (but only for volunteers: through wwoof → 1-2 per year)
