ValbellunaLiving soil: improve the fertility of the vegetable garden with compost
Discover moreThe project "Hidden Treasures in the Churches of Belluno" takes another important step with the publication of the guide dedicated to the Boite Valley, a volume that explores the vast religious and artistic heritage of fifty-five sacred buildings distributed across the municipalities of Valle di Cadore, Vodo di Cadore, Borca di Cadore, San Vito di Cadore, and Cortina d'Ampezzo.
Born around the early 2000s and now in its 23rd year, the project is characterized as a unique system in the national landscape, thanks to the solid collaboration between the Diocese, the Superintendence, and the Province.
Its goal is to create a true instrument of study, growth, and knowledge, as well as of tourism and cultural promotion, enhancing the unique heritage of mountain communities.
The work stands out for its dual purpose: descriptive and, above all, interpretive. This approach, which characterizes the entire editorial series, is applied with particular rigor to the new guide of the Boite Valley.
The sheets, curated by a large group of scholars, offer a “key to understanding” to comprehend the profound intertwining of faith, art, and alpine daily life, analyzing architecture, local materials (stone and wood), frescoes, and sacred furnishings.
The work aims to enhance a heritage that is often little known, correcting inaccurate attributions and highlighting its European cultural value.
Among the editorial novelties, the introduction of an English language edition, titled Hidden Treasures, stands out, designed to make the work fully accessible to the numerous foreign visitors of UNESCO World Heritage Dolomites and in view of the Milan Cortina 2026 Olympics and Paralympics.
