Lake Mis

Lake Mis

Aboard a canoe or kayak to explore its hidden corners. On its shores to enjoy a relaxing moment or a picnic.

Walking along the paths that surround it. Whatever activity you choose, Lake Mis will captivate you with its emerald green water and unspoiled nature.
We are in the heart of the Dolomiti Bellunesi National Park, in Valle del Mis, you can reach from the town of Sospirolo or by descending from Agordino, passing through the ghost town of California. A wild and at the same time cosy place. Still unspoiled nature, but not far from towns.

Enjoy the spectacle of Monti del Sole reflecting in the clear water. Go to the end of the lake and listen to the mighty roar of the Soffia Fall (link).

Climb the trail that starts at the Campanula Morettiana Botanical Garden and runs alongside the spectacular Cadini del Brenton. Walk the Val Falcina educational loop and immerse yourself in its rugged and striking views.
Be surprised by the beauty of this lake in the Dolomites in Belluno!

Curiosities

  • "There are valleys where we live that I have never seen anywhere else (...)". The Valle del Mis, for example, with its side valleys that penetrate a maze of mountains, wild and without glory. So wrote Dino Buzzati, talking about Valle Del Mis.
  • Arriving from Agordino, he paid a visit to the hamlet of California, in the municipality of Gosaldo, now uninhabited after the 1966 flood, but once a community that grew around mining in the area.

  • Coming from Sospirolo, you will see the Carthusian monastery of Vedana. You cannot see the inside because it houses cloistered nuns, but it is worth a brief stop to admire the impressive architectural complex from the outside.
