The story of Pro Loco Limana begins with a founding act dated April 12, 1976, and was officially established in 1980; indeed, that year the association was legally constituted with a proper statute. However, we can say that for about a decade, Pro Loco had already been making its first steps. Initially timidly, during the 1970s, with the organization of some recreational events during the religious feast of the Madonna d'Agosto (which was once very significant in Limana), later with increasing determination and presence in various social moments of the town. By the mid-1970s, Pro Loco had its own organization and its own governing council, even though not in an official form. We recall that among the leaders of the association during these early periods were presidents such as Luciano Salce, Giorgio Bianchet, Giuliano Riva, and Renzo Valvassori, under whose mandate Pro Loco Limana was officially constituted in 1980, as previously mentioned. Since then, the history of this association has seen a growing increase in activities and successes, gradually involving a larger number of members and collaborators. Among the presidency, we find historical names from the Limana volunteer community such as Piero Gasperin, Giuseppe De Toffol, Vittorio Bristot, Michele Talo, Edy Fontana, Edy De March, Siro Bortot, Davide Praloran, Antonio Balcon, Paolo Tormen, Vittorio Consonni, leading up to the present day with Franceso Mantuano, Raniero Sulmona, and then Davide Praloran. In the early 1980s, an event called "The Days of the Rainbow" started: it consists of a few evenings organized at the end of summer in the local gym to propose music, shows, and theater, all featuring local actors. After a couple of years, the event was accompanied by convivial moments at the nearby playground, and the first editions of the Palio delle Frazioni were created. This was the prologue to the great Ferragosto festival that Pro Loco Limana, with great commitment and energy, began organizing at the end of the 1980s, which still represents one of the most important and significant moments of the association, managing to involve and unite various volunteer associations, dozens and dozens of collaborators, and merchants. The festival, with its various side initiatives, is now one of the main events of summer in Sinistra Piave. But Pro Loco Limana has always paid attention to the cultural dimension as well. Thus, alongside the first editions of the “Vecia” in mid-Lent, a photography competition was born, and, in conjunction with the feast of the patron Saint Valentine, which until then had only been celebrated by the Parish, a poetry competition for elementary schools was created. In 1989, the big step: Pro Loco Limana launched the first edition of the Regional Poetry Prize in the Venetian dialect, which the following year became Triveneto. Prestigious and valuable collaborators in the jury, precise and widespread organization, substantial prizes at stake: the prize immediately achieved great success in participation and content, reaching up to the tenth edition. In 1994, it was decided to alternate the poetry prize with a national painting prize, obtaining collaboration from art critics such as the Venetian Paolo Rizzi. This initiative also received and continues to receive great success. Nine years ago, moreover, another piece was added to an already rich and qualified program: the Craft Show was also born for Saint Valentine, which grows every year and involves more and more exhibitors. Countless are the other initiatives - including a prize for middle and high schools in the province focused on Buzzati's figure - which have characterized the activities of Pro Loco Limana over more than three decades, enlivening and enriching the social, cultural, sporting, and recreational life of their town, succeeding in being a protagonist, as we mentioned, in the Triveneto and national cultural landscape. It is important in this sense that they have always profitably collaborated with the various administrations that have succeeded one another and have united around them the other volunteer associations present in the municipality. Thanks to the proceeds from the festival, moreover, Pro Loco has over the years acquired top-notch equipment available to everyone, further ensuring the future.
