Castello di Belluno, Piazza Castello 14-16 - 32100 Belluno (BL) IT

In memory of the Castle, built around the year 1000 by the bishop-count Giovanni and demolished in the early 1800s, a plaque placed in 1936 on one of the preserved walls is still visible, which reads: These ruined walls have unexpectedly reappeared in the light of the ancient castle that witnessed the slaughter and surrender of the German hordes in July 1509. The City was also protected by a very wide wall that from the 14th century encircled the entire city center starting from Piazza Campitello, with Porta Dojona, extending toward the extreme tip of the rocky spur on which Belluno is built, which closes with Porta Rugo. To the northeast, the slope descending toward Borgo Prà and the Ardo stream was dominated by a mighty Tower, which is still visible today from the banks of the watercourse. 24 hours a day
