From February 28 to May 10, 2026, the Palazzo delle Contesse in Mel di Borgo Valbelluna hosts the exhibition “THE PAINTED WORK“, an investigation curated by Stefano Cecchetto on the workforce between the 19th century and the post-World War II period.
The exhibition path documents the crucial transition from the rural world to industrial civilization, exploring the relationship between art and collective consciousness without celebratory intent, but recognizing the artist themselves as a producer.
Through sections dedicated to landscape, domestic life, and the major reconstruction sites, the exhibition highlights the disappearance of archaic trades and the profound urban transformations of the territory. Particular emphasis is given to women's work, evidenced both by female artists and male perspectives, offering a daily chronicle of shared struggles in an era still far from emancipation.
The initiative, promoted by Art Dolomites APS and the Municipality of Borgo Valbelluna, thus stimulates critical reflection on the changes in civil society and the natural landscape.
