In the heart of spring, the gaze towards the cosmos opens up to a privileged window: the gems of the May sky. This month is indeed the time of extragalactic depths, where islands of stars and globular clusters manifest in all their beauty. In May, the constellations of Virgo, Coma Berenices and Leo dominate the meridian. This area of the sky is known as the "Realm of Galaxies" whose main characters are the giant elliptical M87 and the Sombrero galaxy (M104), a spiral that represents one of the most photogenic objects in the sky. Not to mention M101 a spiral galaxy in Ursa Major and the Black Eye galaxy in Coma Berenices. And just to name a few... But in the depths of cosmic space, there are not only remote stellar islands but also spectacular groupings of stars such as the globular cluster M13 in Hercules, the Beehive (M44) in Cancer, M3 in Ophiuchus, and M5 in Serpens.
In short, favored by a moonlit night, we will be able to embark on a true journey into the cosmos with the telescopes of the Astronomical Center and the knowledge of the Rheticus staff, delving into the discovery not only of the most beautiful objects to observe but also of the mysteries of the universe that surrounds us.
In case of bad weather, the entire event will take place at the planetarium, where stars and constellations of the season and spectacular full-dome films will be shown.
