The Ladin Culture Wednesdays

From July 15 to September 2, 2026, the Union de i Ladis d’Anpezo invites residents and guests to a unique journey into the cultural heritage of the Dolomites. The Wednesdays of Ladin Culture are eight free meetings with scholars, experts, and protagonists of the area to learn about stories, places, legends, and traditions that tell the identity of Cortina d’Ampezzo and the five Ladin valleys of Sella.

A special occasion to rediscover eighty years of Ladin unity, visit symbolic places, deepen the value of nature, celebrate significant anniversaries, and pass on a heritage made of memory, culture, and community.

Program:

• July 15 – 80 years of unity of the five Ladin valleys of Sella - With Denni Dorigo. A journey into the history of the Union de i Ladis and the value of cultural unity among Ladin communities.
Meeting point: ULd’A Office, Corso Italia 31.

• July 22 – History of the Codivilla Putti Institute - With Dr. Ferdinando Darin. A deep dive dedicated to one of the health institutions that made Cortina famous internationally.
Meeting point: Ethnographic Museum Regole d’Ampezzo, Via del Marangoi 1, Pontechiesa area.

• July 29 – 50th anniversary of Radio Cortina - Participation in the celebrations for the fiftieth anniversary of the emblematic broadcaster of the area.
Meeting point: Conchiglia – Pavilion of Music.

• August 5 – The Game Reserve of Cortina: a precarious ecosystem - With Bruno Menardi and Dr. Paolo Zanetti, General of the Forestry Carabinieri. A meeting dedicated to the balance between fauna, environment, and territorial protection.
Meeting point: Parking of the Game Reserve, Località Socus. Reachable also by urban bus line 2 (departure from Piazza Roma at 10:00 a.m., subject to changes).

• August 12 – Ladin Legends: Donna Dindia - With Susy Rottonara. A fascinating tale of myth, oral tradition, and Ladin culture.
Meeting point: Rifugio Peziè de Parù (reachable by private vehicle), S.P. 638 towards Passo Giau.

• August 19 – The Church of Ospitale: 800 years of history and tradition - With Prof. Giacomel. Discovering one of the oldest and most significant places in the Ampezzan basin.
Meeting point: Parking of the Ospitale Restaurant. Reachable also by SAD bus line 445 (departure from school area of Cortina at 10:20 a.m., arrival at 10:34 a.m., subject to changes).

• August 26 – The Sestieri of Ampezzo: 90 years of activity - With Sergio Majoni Majolin and Marco Dibona. A meeting dedicated to the history, values, and role of the Sestieri in the life of the Ampezzan community.
Meeting point: Conchiglia – Pavilion of Music.

• September 2 – Dr. Angelo Majoni Retirement Home: hospitality, services, and community - With Luciano Pompanin Dimai, Sole Administrator ASSP. An opportunity to learn about a fundamental reality for the assistance, hospitality, and well-being of the elderly in the community.
Meeting point: Garden in front of the Day Center of Dr. Angelo Majoni Retirement Home, Via della Difesa 12.

Each appointment represents an invitation to look at the territory with new eyes, meeting the people who preserve its history and build its future.
