The Papa Luciani Foundation of Canale d'Agordo, established in 2009, after opening its doors with the inauguration of the MUSAL Albino Luciani Museum – Pope John Paul I in 2016, now inaugurates the Study Center “Don Benedetto Tissi,” located in the attic of the Albino Luciani Museum in Canale d'Agordo. The Study Center features a library specialized in ancient books and includes numerous volumes and documents of value, ancient and rare items such as incunabula and works from the 14th century. A specialized library that not only focuses on ancient books but is also a place where visitors can go if they are interested in local history, thanks to the presence of books and pamphlets related to the past and local traditions.
The event will involve multiple lay and ecclesiastical authorities of national level, as well as numerous benefactors and donors who, with their contributions, have enriched the heritage of the Study Center over the years. Thanks to the opening of the Study Center and the arrangement of the volumes, researchers and enthusiasts will finally be allowed to deepen their knowledge at a specialized library dedicated to the consultation of ancient books, unique in its kind.
The inauguration day will begin with the celebration of the Holy Mass presided over by Cardinal Beniamino Stella, former Postulator of the Canonization Cause of Pope Luciani, at the Parish Church of San Giovanni Battista, followed by a move to the attic of the MUSAL where the “Don Benedetto Tissi” Study Center will be inaugurated. Guided tours are then planned at the Study Center, especially for benefactors and donors.
The event will also take place in the context of the International Day of House Museums, organized by the National Association of Houses of Memory. On this occasion, the birthplace of Pope Luciani will be open and accessible, with free guided tours from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM and from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
