Cadore - Tre Cime - Comelico
Happy ending for a recently rediscovered work by Titian

Last summer, Enrico Maria Dal Pozzolo told the story of a Madonna with Child that resurfaced almost suddenly in the international antique market.

He explained how it was possible to attribute it to the master, illustrating what non-invasive diagnostic analyses and various other versions - less beautiful and less ancient - known of this composition have shown.

Well: this story - which remained suspended after the sale to an anonymous collector - now has a happy ending. Because the painting will be destined for the Poldi Pezzoli Museum on loan for the next few years.

This happy story will be discussed by Lavinia Galli, curator of the Museum, and Enrico Maria Dal Pozzolo, who will participate remotely from the Poldi Pezzoli Museum in Milan.

ENRICO MARIA DAL POZZOLO is an associate professor of Modern Art History at the University of Verona, where he teaches Modern Art History.

He mainly focuses on Venetian painting of the Renaissance and Baroque age.

He has published numerous scientific contributions and has organized various conferences – including one on Marco Boschini in Verona in 2014, on behalf of the Veneto Region - and exhibitions in Venice (Doge's Palace, Correr Museum), Rome (Palazzo Venezia, Castel Sant'Angelo), London (National Gallery), and Madrid (Prado Museum).

In 2009, he curated the exhibition on Giorgione in Castelfranco Veneto.

He writes for Repubblica and has collaborated with Rai and the BBC.

From 2025 to 2027, he will be a consultant for the Chamber of Deputies regarding the historical-artistic heritage of Montecitorio.

LAVINIA GALLI is the curator of the Poldi Pezzoli Museum in Milan.

Among the latest exhibitions and catalogs she has curated are Wonders of the Grand Tour (2026), Andrea Solario (2025), the form of Time (2021), Robot The Human Project (2020 MUDEC), Wunderkammer yesterday and today (2013).

From 1997 to 2000, she was the director of the Francesco Borgogna Museum in Vercelli.

She teaches Museology and Museography at the Postgraduate School of Historical Artistic Heritage at the Catholic University of Milan.

She is an Advisory Member of the Society for the History of Collectionism.

With a doctorate, she has about a hundred publications on the history of collecting, as well as medieval and modern art history.

An additional area of her research is the relationship between science and humanism.
