There are places that do not belong only to the past: they continue to tell us who we are. In Ospitale d’Anpezo, along the ancient road that connected Venice to Germany, the church of Saints Nicolò, Biagio, and Antonio Abate has preserved the memory of the Ampezzan community for eight centuries.
Consecrated on October 30, 1226, it was built next to a hospice where, since the 11th century, pilgrims, travelers, and merchants found accommodation. A vocation for hospitality that still lives on today, symbolically represented by Saint Nicolò, the patron saint of travelers.
Over the centuries, the church has been expanded, damaged, and restored, preserving precious testimonies: the 13th-century structure, the frescoes, the Gothic choir, and an altarpiece from a German school of the 16th century. The bell from 1561 is the oldest in the Ampezzan territory. The scars of wars and World War I are also part of a history that the community has chosen to preserve and pass down.
On Saturday, October 10, 2026, at 10.00 a.m., Ospitale will celebrate this extraordinary anniversary with a meeting dedicated to history, art, and restoration, in collaboration with the Regole d’Ampezzo and the Union de i Ladis de Anpezo.
On Friday, October 30, at 10.00 a.m. Holy Mass in memory of the consecration.
An opportunity to rediscover a symbolic place: eight centuries of faith, culture, and identity, still alive among the mountains of Ampezzo.
