This trail crosses a mixed beech and fir forest that rises to the wide and beautiful grassy basin of Selvapiana where the Lunelli Refuge is located. Here, in the UNESCO Dolomites System 5 "Northern Dolomites," a splendid view opens up of the imposing Popèra mountain group. The clearing, gently undulating and easily accessible, represents the gateway to the World Heritage Site from the Comelico side. The landscape is typically Dolomitic, with a gentle base characterized by the cultural landscape related to mountain agriculture, and an overlying part, decidedly rocky and wild, which forms the natural landscape. It is one of the mapped routes as part of the "Accessible Dolomites" project promoted by the Dolomiti UNESCO Foundation.
