The Lago di Santa Croce is the second largest natural body of water in Veneto. Its surface reflects the image of the splendid mountains that surround it and offers incredible views that fascinate visitors from all over the world.

At an altitude of 386 m, it is very popular among sport fishing enthusiasts due to the abundance and quality of its fish fauna. The lake boasts as many as 15 different species including coregone and pike, which are the main components, lake trout, and brown trout. Particularly appreciated by fishermen, especially in recent years, are also carp, pike, and eel, the latter being the subject of a specific reintroduction plan. For number lovers, the specimens caught in the lake are of decidedly interesting sizes.

In the middle of the lake is the main headquarters and boat rental of the Basin of Fishing No. 7 of Alpago while on the southern shore, in the locality of Santa Croce, there is the Icthyogenic Center, an institute aimed at the reclamation of the area and the protection of the most valuable species at risk of extinction. The Center is designed with spectacular windows that overlook the lake.
