Thanks to a new technology based on artificial intelligence, this summer the 101 photographs will “speak”.
Through a simple, free, and easily downloadable application, one can listen to the emotions that each image contains.
The voices of the People of the Mountains from Cadore to Carnia to Pollino, the sounds of the Madonie procession, the singing of the Abruzzese women of Scanno, a poem in Ladin, a nursery rhyme recited softly, an unpublished ballad, the sound of bells, and much more.
The experience will therefore become not only visual but also emotional, not repetitive but unique and exclusive.
The photo recognition system for the photographic walk People of the Mountains was designed by Ing. Roberto Da Forno, originally from Pozzale, who works in the field of artificial intelligence specifically for image recognition.
The idea arose, Ing. Da Forno explains, from the need to engage visitors more through specific audio tracks for the observed photograph, all without using current systems based on QR codes framed by a mobile device.
The system designed for the photographic walk People of the Mountains is very simple, Da Forno continues; just frame the photos and the pre-“trained” neural network recognizes the photo evoking specific sounds or texts, just like our brain works to recognize, remember, and evoke emotions.
Of course, it is not necessary to be an expert photographer; a smartphone held simply in hand is enough.
This application, Da Forno concludes, can serve as an incentive for tourism in the mountains, as it allows for a simple and transparent, completely non-invasive way to enhance the beauty of mountain villages.
The supported project is managed by the social promotion association Pozzale Vive, as part of a regenerative and sustainable tourism initiative aimed at creating value for the community and fostering growth opportunities for the local community.
