Il Giro del Pelmo-Croda da Lago

Alleghe - Falcade - Zoldo

Alleghe - Falcade - Zoldo
1
Il Giro del Pelmo-Croda da Lago, Villagrande Colle Santa Lucia IT

A ring route with significant mileage to the 110 km limit with three major Dolomite climbs and the passage through some of the most characteristic villages in the area.

The usual departure from Alleghe allows riders to warm up their legs on the 4 km of flat terrain leading to Caprile, while for those starting from the latter the start will be immediately uphill.

In Caprile you take the Sp 20 of Val Fiorentina, which in 5 km leads to Selva di Cadore.

Once past the last hamlet of Pescul, the first Dolomite pass of the day begins: the Staulanza Pass, which climbs to an altitude of 1765m.

The descent along the entire Val di Zoldo valley is beautiful and flighty, and shortly after the village of Forno di Zoldo we turn left, beginning the second asperity: the Passo CIbiana, a respectable climb on a narrow road full of bends that requires the utmost attention, particularly on the subsequent descent to Cibiana di Cadore, the village of the Murales

. The descent continues to Valle del Boite where, after crossing the stream, there is a one-kilometre climb up the SR to Valle di Cadore and on this road or on the adjacent cycle path to Cortina D'Ampezzo.

After crossing the Pearl of the Dolomites, we attack the Falzarego Pass. 17 km of very rideable climb under the 5 Torri and the Lagazuoi. The top is at an altitude of 2100m and from here to Caprile it is all downhill for about 20km and almost 3000m of altitude difference. For those who started from Alleghe, the last 4km are flat but with the insidious afternoon mountain breeze.
