Features
Path of significant naturalistic and faunistic interest that allows you to discover Lake Santa Croce and the natural oasis surrounding it. A long and varied route that can be taken from different points.
ACCESS The starting point is located in Bastia d'Alpago, at a large parking area on Via Grava. The parking is free and without reserved spaces.
DESCRIPTION OF THE ROUTE Starting from the parking area, cross the road and descend along Via del Mulino, then cross again onto Viale Alpago and enter Via Peschiere. Follow it all the way until you take a sharp left onto a dirt road. From there, follow the Oasi naturalistica path without difficulty, a vast area of reeds interspersed with a willow and poplar forest. After about 2 km, you cross the bridge over the Tesa stream and shortly reach Lake Santa Croce. After passing Camping Sarathei, continue on the concrete cycle path. After passing the beach, the trail continues in the woods, with a bridge that requires assistance due to small steps at the beginning and end. Continue on a well-trodden dirt road, skirting the lake. After passing the fishing area and the boat mooring, you arrive at Poiatte near the Baywatch bar, just over 5 km from the start. The return is via the same route.
RECOMMENDED EQUIPMENT AND NOTES Long route, for which a stroller with off-road wheels and a swivel wheel is recommended. An accompanying person is advised for crossing the bridges, which have small steps. The route can also be done in reverse. There are reserved parking spaces available at the Baywatch bar in Poiatte. In some sections, particularly near the beach, the route is also feasible with a push stroller.
