Chiesa Sedico
Chiesa Parrocchiale Santa Maria Annunziata, Viale Venezia, n.18 - 32036 Sedico IT (0039) 0437852027 parrocchie.sedico@gmail.com www.treinsieme.it/

The church is located in the center of Sedico and is dedicated to the Annunciation of the angel Gabriel to Mary.

In the past, the main church stood in what is now Piazza della Vittoria, where the imposing bell tower still stands today. The church of Sedico was the only parish church in the municipality, and liturgical ceremonies took place according to a local calendar preserved in the parish archive. Over time, the ancient archpriest's church became too small for the growing population and was demolished in 1955. At the initiative of Mons. Luigi Fiori, then archpriest, a new church was built, whose first stone was blessed by Bishop Mons. Giosuè Cattarossi on June 11, 1933, and was solemnly inaugurated on October 7, 1939, during the feast of Our Lady of the Rosary.

Designed by architect Pietro Del Fabbro from Treviso, the church features a Latin plan in Romanesque style. It measures 50 meters in length and 20 meters in width, with three naves divided by two rows of octagonal stone columns. On the facade, to the sides and above the portal, there are five statues of saints from the old church, restored and returned to their former splendor.

The external structure is characterized by large visible stones, a symbol of the hard life of those years. Originally, the interior housed three marble altars, which have now been replaced by a wooden altar. The small organ present at the time has been replaced by a larger and more modern one, equipped with two keyboards and visible pipes in the apse.

Among the works of art preserved in the church are the "Madonna and Child" on panel by Titian – Francesco Vecellio, dated 1505; a canvas by Pietro Marescalchi depicting "Saint John the Baptist between Saint Roch and Saint Catherine"; "Saint Lucia between Saint Camillus and Saint Anthony Abbot" by Antonio Lazzarini; the altarpiece of the Annunciation of the main altar, by an unknown author, attributed by some to Gregorio Lazzarini; and the "Visit to Saint Elizabeth" which is part of a cycle on the Mysteries of the Rosary. Of great value is also a wooden sculpted tabernacle by Andrea Brustolon.
