Castello di Andraz - percorso accessibile
Arabba Marmolada
Features
The route, of both historical and scenic interest, allows access to the ancient castle of Andraz, surrounded by wonderful Dolomite landscapes. It is a unique trail for those who want to immerse themselves in the history and nature of the area.
ACCESS The starting point, marked by a specific sign, is located along the SR48 of the Passo Falzarego, where it is possible to leave the car in one of the two small parking lots on either side of the road. It can be reached exclusively by private vehicles. Parking is free and without reserved spots.
ROUTE DESCRIPTION Starting from the parking area along the SR48 of the Passo Falzarego, take the paved road slightly downhill. After about 300 meters, there is a section that is steeper and continues downhill. Continuing on the road, which becomes unpaved, after a curve you will find Malga Castello (currently under renovation) and cross a short bridge near which an old mill can be seen. After about 200 meters, you reach the castle, where there are panels explaining its history. Continuing after an unpaved ramp, but manageable on your own with a small wheel, the trail returns to flat ground and reaches the village of Castello, which is about 200 meters from the castle of Andraz.
RECOMMENDED EQUIPMENT AND NOTES A suitable stroller for uneven terrains (off-road wheels) and a small wheel. It is also possible to leave the car directly at the Castle of Andraz, where there is a small free parking lot without reserved spots. The Castle is not accessible, but it can be visited by any companions. There are no refreshment points nearby, but there is an accessible bathroom near the castle.
