Inaugurated on 10.10.1971, it is a prefabricated structure type Fond. A. Berti built at the initiative of the namesake foundation and the Vicenza section of CAI. Umberto Valdo (1901-1964), an engineer, a good climber, and a pioneer of cross-country skiing and ski mountaineering. His wife Matilde (1905-1965), a climber and skilled skier, were both members of the Vicenza section of CAI.
Difficulty of the route: Easy up to Gena Alta (800 m) on an asphalted road. From Gena Alta to Bivacco Valdo: Trail CAI 871 with exposed sections, couloirs equipped with metal cord, and transitions of 2nd degree. Suitable only for experienced hikers due to the slope, exposure, and technical sections.
Total duration: From Bar alla Soffia to Bivacco Valdo approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes.
