i>Once upon a time, and still today, there was the noble family Barcelloni that owned properties in Salce mentioned in the notarial act of 1673; likely the house dates back to that time, even though this country residence appears on page 8 of the Land Registry of Salce from 1730. The Barcelloni family and the owners Augusto Canova and his descendants used the home as a summer residence until 1960, after which the sisters Calbo Maria and Francesca, Canova's nieces, moved in with their families. The building underwent modifications over the years, but the structure with its porch and sundial remained original; the ground floor was for the servants while the first floor was the main living area. The rooms at street level were cellars with attached vats, barrels, a well, a press, and tools. From the west side of the house, ox-drawn carts entered and exited from the east side. Over time, the cellars have been converted into living spaces, but beams and wooden columns remain to remind us of the original use of those areas.
