The route, of great geological and landscape interest, is a long hike set in a wild environment on the eastern edge of the Dolomites, thus suitable for experienced hikers.
From Val Visdende, park the car at Pra Marino loc. La Fitta. Continue on foot along a convenient dirt road that runs alongside the Lòndo stream until the eponymous Casera. From here, ascend the easy path marked with sign 167 up to the Palombino pass (2035 m). From the pass, continue upwards along the Palombino Ridge (sign 142). The ridge section offers splendid panoramic views.
Ignoring the trail that climbs to the summit of Mount Palombino, follow trail 142a down to the right, crossing the Palombino Valley, to reconnect with the convenient dirt road known as the “Strada delle Malghe.” Be careful along this descent section, as the trail tends to vanish and the signage is locally poor. After a couple of hairpin bends, you will reach Casera Dignas (1686 m) and from there back to the starting point (sign 170).
Elevation gain: approx. 1,100 m. Difficulty: EE. Duration: 6 hours (excluding stops)
