At the top of Mount Froppa is the Hermitage of the Romites, a testimony to the only convent that ever existed in Cadore, now serving as an alpine refuge and whose origins date back to the 18th century. It is a true architectural gem built in an exclusive location, offering a stunning view of the Centro Cadore and its most important mountains.
EXCURSION PROGRAM:
Meeting at 8:30 AM in Domegge di Cadore in front of Panificio Pasticceria Da Vià.
A loop hike of about 10 km, we will climb until we reach the summit of Mount Froppa where the Hermitage Romiti is located.
Pack lunch or have lunch at the Romiti refuge.
DURATION OF THE EXCURSION: about 4/6 hours, including breaks
DIFFICULTY: Medium, minimum age required 8 years (with good physical preparation)
ELEVATION GAIN: approximately 500 meters uphill
REQUIRED CLOTHING: trekking footwear, sports clothing, windbreaker, backpack, trekking poles for those who have them, water and food for the packed lunch, and crampons in winter season!
RECOMMENDED ACCESSORIES: dried fruit or energy bars, sunglasses, sunscreen, and a complete change of clothes to keep in the car.
