Composed in 1734 by Johann Sebastian Bach, the monumental Christmas Oratorio BWV 248 comes to life in the beautiful setting of the Basilica of Saints Philip and James.
For this special occasion, four of the six original cantatas will be performed (I, II, III, and VI): an extraordinary musical journey that will take you from the festive and radiant choir of the opening, to the sweet lullaby of «Schlafe, mein Liebster», up to the solemn concluding chorale marked by trumpets and timpani.
Bringing this masterpiece to life will be two centers of excellence:
The renowned Tölzer Knabenchor, one of the most famous boys' choirs in the world, which has kept this work in its repertoire for over fifty years, and the orchestra Gli Archi Italiani, directed by the seasoned guidance of Maestro Marco Barbon.
A not-to-be-missed event with great intensity to immerse yourself in the Christmas spirit in Cortina d'Ampezzo.
Entrance to the event is free.
