There are stories that the mountain does not tell aloud. It writes them on the bark.

The engraver beetle, a tiny creator of intricate galleries, has left a deep mark in the forests of the Dolomites from the transformations triggered by the Vaia storm and climate change. Silvia Canton has chosen to listen to it. For over three years, she has been recovering bark destined to deteriorate, preserving and transforming it into pictorial-sculptural works: what seems like waste becomes memory, matter, beauty. An artistic gesture that makes visible what is normally hidden.

At the finissage of “Silent Threads. The intricate galleries of the engraver beetle”, art will meet words. Silvia Canton will engage in dialogue with Massimo Nava, journalist and writer, author of the prestigious Cortina d’Ampezzo, the coffee table book published by Assouline that celebrates the Queen of the Dolomites through images, history, culture, and identity.

An encounter at high altitude, where the threads of the bark converse with the threads of narration. Where a wounded mountain becomes an opportunity to look further. Where art, memory, science, and literature meet to give Cortina back not only its image but its soul.
