The pianist from Belluno Silvia Carlin presents her CD Pensées fugitives to the public, offering the opportunity to listen to it live during a musical Matinée organized by the Belluno Cultural Circle.
The program includes the performance of Samuel Maykapar Pensées Fugitives op. 11, Sergej Prokof'ev Visions Fugitives op. 22, Clara Schumann Quatre pièces fugitives op. 15, and Moritz Moszkowski Trois Pensées Fugitives op. 66.
“Fugitif” is a French word that means “fleeting,” “ephemeral,” but also “transitory” and “provisional.” Several composers have explored this concept, each giving their own interpretation.
The program performed by Silvia Carlin aims to reflect on the transience not only of music but of all reality.
If impermanence and fleetingness are the essence of everything and every manifestation, music is perhaps the art in which the concept of “fugitif” is expressed best. Sound is intangible and fleeting.
The form of Pensées Fugitives emerged in the 19th century: brief salon pieces, free from any formal obligation, allowing composers full expressive freedom.
Originally from Bribano, in the province of Belluno, Silvia Carlin is currently a professor at the Music School of the Musik-Akademie in Basi, Switzerland.
After studying with Prof. Nicoletta De Cian at the “Antonio Miari” Municipal Music School in Belluno, she graduated at just sixteen years old with top marks, honors, and special mention at the “Arrigo Pedrollo” Conservatory in Vicenza.
She then continued her training under the guidance of Filippo Gamba in Basel, earning a Master's in Music Performance and a Master's in Music Pedagogy, and with Alexandar Madzar in Hamburg.
A multiple award winner, she performs concerts in Italy, Switzerland, and Germany both as a soloist and in chamber music formations, particularly with cellist Valentina Dubrovina.
