Discover moreIn the year of the tenth anniversary of the MUSAL – Museo Albino Luciani, the Papa Luciani Foundation enhances the occasion through the programming and organization of weekly summer cultural events that will take place throughout the months of July and August.
These events aim to promote culture, local history, and faith while also providing ample space for music and new publications.
On Friday, August 17, 2026, the Casa della Gioventù of Caviola (Falcade) will host a special storytelling evening dedicated to an extraordinary figure born right among these mountains: Father Felice Maria Cappello.
Leading us on this journey to discover our roots will be Loris Serafini, director of the Papa Luciani Foundation.
The meeting will unveil the fascinating life of this priest from the Valle del Biois, beloved and known throughout Italy as “The Confessor of Rome.”
We will discover how his incredible generosity led him to spend entire days in the Church of Sant'Ignazio in Rome, becoming a point of reference for anyone – from nobles to workers, students to the needy – seeking a word of comfort or sincere advice, while never forgetting his commitments as a respected university professor.
It will be a unique opportunity to discover an exciting connection and a distant kinship that linked Father Cappello to the very young Albino Luciani, the future “Pope of the Smile.”
Loris Serafini's storytelling will reveal how the words and example of this charismatic Jesuit were key in inspiring the choices and vocation of young Albino, instilling in him from the outset that love for others, humility, and gentleness that made him famous worldwide.
For those on vacation in our valleys, the evening represents an unmissable appointment to savor local history and understand where the most beautiful values of Pope Luciani are rooted.
The figure of Father Felice Maria Cappello is deeply linked to Pope Albino Luciani due to a profound spiritual and cultural bond that existed between them, and it was the figure of Cappello who guided young Albino Luciani towards the Society of Jesus and the diocesan seminary.
The Papa Luciani Foundation is pleased to share this proposal with the pilgrims visiting Canale d’Agordo, providing informational materials free of charge.
The brochures aim to accompany pilgrims and visitors through the culture and discovery of local history, the great figures of the native Valley of Papa Luciani, and music.
