Overload

On Saturday April 17th at 8:45 p.m., the show "Overload" will take place at the Dino Buzzati Municipal Theatre.

The X edition of Belluno Miraggi is closed by the performance “Overload” by the Florentine theater research group Sotterraneo, winner of the UBU award for show of the year 2018 and the Best of Be Festival Tour 2016 (tour in Spain & the United Kingdom).

Attention is a form of alienation: the point is to know what to alienate yourself into. Among mass distractions and digital mutations, we move immersed in an environment enhanced by the media. Overstimulated by information, we live in a state of continuous alert that the ancients only knew in battle. The background noise is increasing all over the planet. Shouldn't we perhaps make more silence and pay more attention? Overload stages the American writer David Foster Wallace in the act of delivering a speech, which soon takes the shape of a hypertext where sudden links trigger possible actions and images, creating a continuous chase for extra content that only the audience decides whether to activate or not.

The speech by Wallace risks never being completed, shattered by a system of superficial jumps and interruptions very similar to our daily experience: is it possible to use this state of confusion for a reflection on the ecology of attention?
