Stretto tells of a swim crossing of the Strait of Messina, always a stage for departures, returns, and escapes; inspiration for poets and storytellers.

The myths (Ulysses, Scylla and Charybdis), the legends (Colapesce, Fata Morgana), the folk stories (the women of Bagnara), the religious stories (Saint Francis of Paola), the historical events (the earthquake of 1908) and the testimonies of the men and women of today, who have always had the strait in their eyes and in their daily lives.

To tell one’s story means to renew the bond with one’s past, to bring back to life those who are no longer here and in some cases “to come back home”.

Performance interpreted by Stefano Panzeri, with live original music by Giorgia Faraone, written and directed by Giovanni Arezzo.
