An authentic legend of African American music arrives at ValdobbiadeneJazz to celebrate a special milestone.
The guitarist, singer, and bandleader , born in Atlanta and raised in the historic music scene of Detroit, is celebrating his 80th birthday with a European tour that spans over sixty years of career across soul, funk, blues, jazz, and rhythm & blues.
With his unmistakable groove, the elegant sound of his guitar, and a charismatic stage presence, Emmanuel has been a key figure of the golden age of American music. Throughout his long career, he has collaborated with some of the greatest icons of world music, including Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Gladys Knight & the Pips, Al Green, B.B. King, John Lee Hooker, and the Jackson 5.
Beloved by the Italian public – who affectionately calls him “Zio Livio” – he returns to Europe for a special tour accompanied by a band of musicians with whom he has shared numerous projects over the years.
