One evening in April 2015, two women take turns narrating a story that begins in 1943 on the island of Veglia (Krk) occupied by the Italians, unfolds in fascist internment camps in Italy, in Belluno and Fiume, until 1950.
The protagonist is the young Marija, and alongside her, the women from both sides of the Adriatic face the harsh realities of life and war.
The tale is inspired by real events.
Adriana Lotto, a well-known historian from Belluno, is the president of the Tina Merlin Cultural Association and a member of the Isbrec board in Belluno.
She is the author of books and essays, particularly on war and resistance, emigration, and deportation, with a special focus on the history, memory, and feminine thought of the twentieth century.
