In the Jubilee year, the Pope Luciani Foundation and the Ecomuseum of the Biois Valley have chosen the theme “The Different Expressions of Sacred and Profane Art in the Biois Valley.”
In this regard, an exhibition is scheduled at the Albino Luciani Museum and the ancient Casa delle Regole in Canale d’Agordo to present the connection between faith and art, which finds its greatest expression in the presence of multiple churches, votive chapels (atrioi), ex-voto frescoes, and icons throughout the territory of the three municipalities of Falcade, Canale d’Agordo, and Vallada Agordina.
The exhibition highlights these signs and places, narrating the historical testimonies visible today, which encompass not only a material heritage but also an immaterial, profound one, made up of values, traditions, and shared principles.
It is no coincidence that these were the lands that gave birth to Blessed Giovanni Paolo I and many personalities (for example, we mention Father Felice Cappello) who distinguished themselves in the religious and cultural fields.
In this Holy Year, the Ecomuseum will commit to ensuring the opening of the most precious and interesting churches in the Valley, including the beautiful monumental church of San Simon, the church of San Rocco, the little church of Sappade, and those of Madonna della Neve and San Gottardo in the high fraction of Gares.
Two maps will accompany visitors on their journeys of discovery of art: one dedicated to the Valley “with the Saints at the windows”; the second focused on sacred places such as churches and votive shrines.
The exhibition, with free entry and open to the public from July 8 to August 31, 2025, will observe the following hours:
ALBINO LUCIANI MUSEUM 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM; 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM
CASA DELLE REGOLE 10:30 AM – 12:30 PM; 4:30 PM – 6:30 PM
