Ex Tempore di Scultura su Legno

The Ex Tempore of Wood Sculpture is a competition, organized by the Consorzio Belluno Centro Storico, that has represented for years the most anticipated event of the Belluno autumn, in the time leading up to the beloved feast of the Patron Saint San Martino (November 11).

From Tuesday 3 to Sunday 8 November in the heart of the historical center of Belluno, the streets and squares transform into a large open-air laboratory during the Symposium of Sculpture, one of the most awaited events of the Ex Tempore. For a few days, the rhythmic sound of chainsaws and chisels resonates among the ancient walls, as artists, arranged in different stations, bring unique works to life by skillfully and passionately sculpting wood.

The air fills with the unmistakable fragrance of larch, resinous and intense, which blends with the voices of the curious and the murmurs of the city. Strolling between the stations, one can observe the sculptures taking shape before the eyes of the public: figures inspired by nature, faces, symbols, and stories that emerge from the wood and become art.

The theme of this year is "Carving the Fantastic: Buzzati and His World", a tribute to Dino Buzzati on the occasion of the 120th anniversary of his birth and an important theme to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Ex Tempore.
