Discover the Zater Museum in Codissago, a small village on the left bank of the Piave River, once entirely inhabited by builders and drivers of the great rafts that descended the Piave River. The Museum was created by the grandchildren and great-grandchildren of the ancient Raftmen, who wanted to ensure that the great work carried out for centuries by their ancestors on the river would not be forgotten, and who have not forgotten the ancient technique used to tie the logs and form large rafts.
In the Museum, the history, traditions, customs, and ways of life of the people of the Piave River are collected. An ancient Venetian sawmill, functioning and dated 1883, has been reconstructed in the external courtyard.
The guided tour lasts about 2 hours, at 10:00, 14:00 and 16:00.
An immersive experience that combines culture and local identity, perfect for those who wish to discover an authentic page of Belluno’s history.
