Presentation of the Literary Competition “Sospirolo among legends and mysteries”

The Pro loco Monti del Sole of Sospirolo, in close collaboration with the Municipality of Sospirolo-Civic Library, participates again this year in Mystery Shows with events centered around life in the alpine pasture with the animals that include the literary competition – XVII edition – a guided and animated walk among the casere-majolere of Sospirolo at the foot of Mount Sperone, an evening of Filò with pasture farmers and boce and a photographic exhibition of alpine pastures loaded by sospirolesi in the last century, including several located in Agordino, particularly in Val del Biois at Passi Valles and San Pellegrino.

The presentation will be hosted, as in the last edition, by the Provincial Ethnographic Museum Dolomiti di Seravella (Cesiomaggiore) in conversation with the Union Ladina Val Biois focused on the book “The alpine pastures yesterday and today of the grazing area of the valley of Biois, Passi Valles and San Pellegrino” published by the Union Ladina Val Biois - Biblioteca del Biois 6 -

The connection to Sospirolo is soon said, the names of the sospirolesi Erminio, Arcangelo, and Rodolfo Cadore are still known in the Agordina valley as in the last century they tended several alpine pastures in the area: Malga de Mez, Malga Valles Alto and up to Malga Pradazzo and Malga Vallazza, then to Malga ai Zingari Bassi and Alti, Malga Campo d’Orso on San Pellegrin, at Salcine, and also at Malga all’Alpe di Lusia. Some still remember when the rodolaresse, women and girls from Sospirolo, would be heard singing “A la moda de Sospiroi” on the grassy slopes during work in the haymaking period.

Extract from the Regulations:

• Subject of the competition: unpublished short stories focusing on the theme of pastoral life in the mountains, understood in the plurality of its social and economic aspects, its rhythms, rites, and traditions, and in the perspective of the special bond that is established between its protagonists, humans and animals.
• The competition is aimed at those born and/or residing in the Triveneto. Participation is free.
• Two sections are provided: A- Individuals from 6 to 14 years old inclusive or group school works (entire class or groups of students from primary and lower secondary schools); B- Participants from 15 years old.
• Each competitor, individual or group, may participate with one unpublished story in Italian, complete with title, with a maximum length of 8000 characters, including spaces. It is not necessary for the text to contain elements referring to the sospirolese territory.

• The works must be sent via email to the address concorsisospirolo@gmail.com, with the subject “Literary Competition Sospirolo,” by no later than October 9, 2026.
