Book presentation: “The ecomuseum network"

Born in 2021 with the official recognition of the Veneto Region, the Ecomuseum of the Biois Valley unites the municipalities of Canale d’Agordo, Falcade, and Vallada Agordina.

These three locations, nestled in the heart of the Dolomites, share a strong cultural, linguistic, and folkloric identity, deeply intertwined with the history and nature of the territory.

Unlike a traditional structure, the Ecomuseum develops outdoors as a widespread museum that directly involves the community.

The inhabitants themselves act as guardians and promoters of the environmental, historical, and cultural heritage of the valley.

Walking through the towns, trails, and ancient villages, it is possible to discover the stories, customs, and memories that have shaped the identity of this land over the centuries.

This is a living and dynamic project, born to safeguard the roots of the territory and transmit them to future generations and to all visitors wishing to discover the valley in its many facets.

Part of a network that today counts approximately 230 entities throughout Italy, the Ecomuseum of the Biois Valley invites you to experience authenticity, amidst the Dolomite landscapes and traditions that speak the genuine language of the mountains.

On Tuesday, August 11, the conference room of MUSAL in Canale d’Agordo will host an important cultural meeting dedicated to the future, enhancement, and innovation of our territory, with the presentation of the volume and research work: The Ecomuseum Network. A Strategy for the Innovation Ecosystem in the Eastern Alps.

The event, focused on the development prospects of the Biois Valley, is directly promoted by the initiative of the Ecomuseum of the Biois Valley, chosen within the study as a virtuous example for the Veneto Region along with other entities from Friuli-Venezia Giulia and Trentino-Alto Adige.

The essay, edited by professors and experts from the University of Udine Federico Lovison, Mauro Pascolini, and Francesco Visentin, gathers innovative results from research aimed at enhancing the mountain contexts of the Northeast through a modern ecological and social perspective.

The presentation will offer the public and tourists an ideal and accessible journey behind the scenes of the alpine ecomuseums.

We will discover how these entities are not traditional museums confined within four walls, but true open-air laboratories that preserve the landscape, traditions, and cultural heritage by directly involving the local inhabitants.

The authors will explain to us in a clear and straightforward manner how the synergy between local communities and new technologies can become a strategic resource to combat depopulation and promote sustainable tourism.

This will be an unmissable opportunity to understand how the alpine valleys, and in particular our beautiful Biois Valley, can become protagonists of an innovation that respects the environment and local history.

The event, free of charge, represents a unique opportunity to reflect together on the care of the surrounding landscape.

The evening promises to be a moment of dynamic and stimulating dialogue, perfect for anyone who loves the mountains and wishes to see them grow and flourish.

At the end of the meeting, copies of the research will be available for purchase directly at the time of the presentation.
