Lake Santa Croce

Lake Santa Croce

The largest lake of the province of Belluno and the second biggest in Veneto region, it is known to kitesurfing, windsurfing, and sailing enthusiasts from all over the world.

Lake Santa Croce, in the Alpine basin, is the perfect destination whether you love sports and adrenaline rush, or you are looking for a place to relax or for a family vacation.
The Alpago Mountains are reflected in it and carp, pike, chub, trout, and perch live in it. Its beaches are perfect for relaxation and sunbathing. Several hiking and cycling routes pass in the surrounding areas.
The wind that blows here almost constantly makes it a paradise for sailing sports enthusiasts.
Glide fast over the water and soar through the air in jumps and evolutions with kiting, windsurfing, and sailing. Get into a canoe, a kayak or a paddle boat or dive in for a swim
Challenge friends to a game of beach volleyball or read a good book in complete relaxation.
Pass the time fishing or birdwatching. Find your rhythm, whether slow or fast, and savour it to the fullest in this natural paradise.

Curiosities

  • Not to be missed is the Oasis of Sbarai which covers more than 30 hectares on the lake shore: here you can try birdwatching, explore it on foot or by canoe in a truly evocative route.
  • Do you love fishing? At Lake Santa Croce, you will find diverse and abundant fish fauna, thanks in part to the Ichthyogenic Experimental Centre created in Baia delle Sirene for conservation of endangered whitefish, pike, and trout.
  • In summer, do not miss Lake Santa Croce Tour, a charity event everyone can participate in by choosing from different categories: running, hand cycling, biking, skating, and walking.
