Lake Misurina

Lake Misurina

It is called the "pearl of the Dolomites". Related to its formation is a legend about a king, a princess, a fairy, and a magic mirror.
Reflected in its water are Sorapiss, Cristallo, Cadini and Three Peaks.

Lake Misurina is a spectacle of nature in every season, which is an invitation to be experienced, but also simply be contemplated.
Discover the many outdoor activities you can do around the lake: mountain biking, hiking, Nordic walking, rock climbing, free climbing, recreational fishing, and in winter, downhill skiing, snowboarding, and cross-country skiing. A concentration of adrenaline and excitement from seeing the Dolomites!
Rent a row boat or a pedal boat and sail on its crystal-clear water or stroll down the lakeside road and breathe in its pure air at the top of your lungs.
Then stop, take the time to pause everything and leave room for the beauty that surrounds you.

Curiosities

  • What is the magic of this lake? Legends tell the story about a fairy who lived on Monte Cristallo and her mirror that could read the thoughts of people who were reflected in it. It is the story of Misurina, the capricious daughter of King Sorapiss, who, in order to possess that mirror, let her father be transformed into a mountain in return. The tears that followed formed streams and then a lake with unique reflections, those of the fragments of the magic mirror.
  • The air around Lake Misurina is recognised for its purity and its ability to treat asthma.
  • Do you want to admire Lake Misurina from above? Ascend on foot or by chairlift to the Col De Varda mountain shelter.
