Alta via n°7

Copertina

The Alta Via of the Dolomites No. 7 winds along a route of about 36 km, consisting of 5 stages, connecting the Dolomieu Refuge in Dolada (BL) to Tambre (BL).

The route of this Alta Via is dedicated to the Austrian Lothar Patera, a pioneer of mountaineering focused on lesser-known, but certainly no less fascinating, mountains. He became very passionate about the Col Nudo – Cavallo Group, even writing a book about it.

The path of Alta Via No. 7 is seriously challenging and tiring, but extraordinarily satisfying from a scenic point of view, as the view spans a vast area from the Dolomites to the Carnic Alps and the Julian Alps.

Magnificent views of the Alpago basin, Mount Cavallo, and the Piave valley are also featured. The crossing develops along the ridge of the Col Nudo - Cavallo mountain group, at an average altitude that never drops below two thousand meters. It is a tiring route for experienced climbers, well equipped, and with considerable physical preparation. Along the way, there are indeed exposed points that can be very treacherous.

The route has been equipped where necessary; however, it is advised not to rely on ropes, as they may be broken or worn. Other difficulties are related to the lack of water and shelters, so it is advisable to carry enough water for at least two days and the necessary equipment to set up a bivouac.
