The Alta Via delle Dolomiti No. 5 is a route of approximately 90 km, consisting of 7 stages, connecting Sesto in Pusteria (BZ) to Pieve di Cadore (BL).
This route of the Alta Via is dedicated to the famous painter Tiziano Vecellio, who drew inspiration from this area for the backgrounds of some of his paintings. Not by chance, the destination is located in Pieve di Cadore, the hometown of the great painter and where it is still possible to visit his birthplace.
This magnificent crossing touches four Dolomite groups and is recommended for experienced hikers, especially regarding the Marmarole area. Here, the mountains are still the realm of chamois, and the difficulties from an alpinistic perspective are greater, accentuated by factors like isolation, scarcity of water, and the presence of fog that descends quickly.
For more experienced hikers, it is also possible to take variants that follow via ferratas or ascend to touch the most famous peaks of the various mountain groups.
