The Alta Via delle Dolomiti No. 4, also known as "di Grohmann," extends over a route of approximately 85 km, consisting of 6 stages, connecting San Candido in Pusteria (BZ) to Pieve di Cadore (BL).
The Alta Via No. 4 is dedicated to Paul Grohmann, the climber who first ascended the monumental Dolomites it traverses: the Tre Scarperi, the Croda dei Baranci, the Cima Grande di Lavaredo, the Cristallo, the Sorapiss, and the Antelao.
This route is extremely interesting both for the beauty of the places and for their historical significance, as the eight dolomite groups crossed by this Alta Via are among the most famous in the Alps.
The environment is wild and silent, recommended for true lovers of peace. The route also passes by the enchanting Lake Misurina, the largest natural lake in Cadore, with its 12 hectares of surface area.
The Alta Via No. 4 consists of well-marked paths and mule tracks, in good condition and, if necessary, also equipped. The itinerary requires only some climbing practice in the section that leads from the Vandelli Refuge to the Comici Bivouac. For the more experienced, there are variants of the classic route that include some more technical alternatives.
