Features

Valles Alto is a magnificent Dolomite pasture not far from the homonymous pass. Surrounded by the spectacular ridges of the Cime di Focobon, Valles Alto includes wide pastures, traditionally cultivated for centuries and rich in botanical species. Here, one can appreciate all the components of the Dolomite cultural landscape: rolling bases covered by verdant pastures tended by alpine huts, slopes cloaked in coniferous forests, broad debris mantles where pioneer vegetation develops, and imposing walls of bare rock. Given the central location and the extent of the pastures, the view is vast and offers a grand vista both on the Dolomite rocks of the Pale di San Martino mountain system and on the dark porphyries of the Cima Bocche group. It is one of the mapped paths within the "Accessible Dolomites" project promoted by the Dolomiti UNESCO Foundation.
