In an ancient document from 1234, the presence of the church dedicated to Saint Lawrence, the protector of charcoal burners, in Selva di Cadore is mentioned. It can already be distinguished from afar by its slender forms and soaring bell tower. Elegant in its entirety, the church houses remarkable works of art that definitely deserve an extended stop, further facilitated by the convenient parking located just a few dozen meters away. Noteworthy is the main altar, which in its baroque shapes contains two precious paintings: a tempera panel depicting the Madonna with Child among Saints Lawrence, Sebastian, Roch and Fosca and, in the lunette, an Annunciation, both created in 1490 by the Cadore artist Antonio Rosso. Numerous and equally significant are the other works of art, starting with the canvases dating back to the early years of the seventeenth century. Worth paying attention to, among other things, are the rich side altars, the fresco decorations, and the balcony with the pipe organ.
