Cammino Retico Southern

Valbelluna

Valbelluna
Panorama

The Retic Path is a way of traveling that prioritizes quality over quantity, focusing on the connection with the territories and the discovery of their typical dishes, which represent their cultural essence.

The Retic Path is linked by name to the pre-Roman past of the city of Feltre and the entire Feltrino area, characterized by the presence of the Reti, a culture that, from its epicenter in Trentino (important are, for example, the findings near Sanzeno, which give its name to one of the most important variants of this culture, that of Fritzens-Sanzeno), then spread to the upper Vicentino, the Bressanone area, and in general to Alto Adige (especially with the material culture variant of the Luco-Meluno Culture) and to all the territories between the eastern area of present-day Switzerland and Carnia. The Reti were part of a particularly complex territorial framework, which also included the Ancient Veneti – with peculiar aspects that led Giulia Fogolari to identify them as "Alpine Veneti" – and the Carni, who occupied the northern part.

The Retic Path Southern extends for about 70km, offering breathtaking views and a unique experience of connection with nature. It crosses historic villages, flowering meadows, alpine pastures, and skims the Piave River, allowing walkers to explore not only the landscape but also the cultural heritage of the local communities. Each stage of the path is an opportunity to savor traditional cuisine, participate in local festivals, and learn about the stories of the inhabitants.

The walking route is 69 km long with an average elevation gain of 2480m and takes place mainly on dirt roads, mountain trails, and on some stretches of secondary paved roads.

The price includes three overnight stays per person in a double room including breakfast.
