The Baldovin Murder: The Duty of Memory.

On Saturday, November 22, there will be a speech by Roberta Gallego, a magistrate in Belluno and a writer and speaker, who passionately addresses the topic of violence against women. In just a few days, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women will be observed, established by the UN in 1999 on November 25.

It was 2001. Tai di Cadore. A man approaches Annalisa Baldovin’s company, arriving by taxi to avoid recognition; gun in hand, he forces the other employees out and then shoots her four times in the abdomen.

To tell is not to repair, but it is obligatory. The idea is to tell in order to remember this woman, but also to understand how the legal and judicial situation has evolved over twenty years.

Annalisa Baldovin was an entrepreneur, a very beautiful, slim, sporty forty-year-old, very active, engaged in her social life and professional life; she was the owner of a company, Tecnocolor. She was separated, with a son, a lovely, tightly-knit family unit, friends, fun, a cat, the mountains; she was a person who had a full life. This life was interrupted after months of what we would today define as stalking, that is, the crime of persecutory acts, which at the time did not exist as a paradigmatic figure in the code.

It was introduced 8 years after Baldovin's death, in 2009, but certainly not because of the media uproar and the controversy that arose after her death.

Annalisa encountered an unfulfilled desire, a desire that imploded, becoming an obsession, and turning into resentment, anger, and revenge. She was killed by a man who believed he had somehow possessed her and no longer did.
